The name “Bulwell” is thought to have originated from a spring in the nearby forest called the “Bull Well”. According to legend, a bull crashed into the sandstone rock at this site, causing water to begin trickling out.
Down by the River Leen is Bulwell Bogs Park, a nice green area with a “splash park” section where kids still paddle in the summer. Despite being so close to the city centre of Nottingham, Bulwell has its own community feel, with a high street, shopping arcade, supermarkets, pubs and places to eat.
