West Bridgford is an area of Nottingham directly south of the River Trent. It is well known for being home to several big sports grounds, including Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and Nottingham’s two football stadiums for the Forest and County teams.
West Bridgford also has its own high street with a range of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. The area is divided into the neighbourhoods of Abbey Park, Compton Acres, Lady Bay and Wilford Hill.
Most of the houses in West Bridgford are in the Victorian style, as this was the time period during which the town was planned and designed. As well as some grander houses on the main roads, there are also terraced side streets, which were originally built for servants of the wealthy merchants who owned property in the area.
